Medical Billing & Coding (MBC)
The purpose of the Medical Billing & Coding program is to educate and train the student for an entry level position as a Medical Billing & Coding specialist in the allied health field. Communication, knowledge and professionalism are cornerstones of the program which allow for the successful execution of skills.
The philosophy of Medical Billing & Coding is to provide education and training to those who are interested in the business arena of a medical facility or a private medical office. Graduation from this program will enable students to secure an entry level position in health insurance billing and coding.
Expectations and Goals:
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with patients/personnel
Perform & understand role of a Medical Billing & Coding specialist within an allied health facility
Execute tasks/skills using appropriate procedures
The Medical Billing & Coding program is a fifteen-week (15) introductory course. Students will learn various billing and medical insurance systems. Instruction will be given on codes for procedures, diseases, methods of payments, and the use of CPT, ICD-10CM, and HCPCS.
Class attendance and participation is mandatory. Three (3) absences require a meeting with the director
Completion of chapters & skill's review
Obtain satisfactory ratings on exams
Dress-Scrubs are required before the third class
Evenings: Tuesday & Thursday 5:30-8:00 PM
Next class starts January, 2019 (Depending on enrollment, start date may change)
Tuition and Books $1,200.00. One third (1/3) of tuition is due upon registration. Tuition must be paid in full by mid-term. Money orders or cash are accepted. Personal checks and or credit cards are not accepted.
