Medical Assistant (MA)
Objective:
The purpose of this Medical Assistant program is to educate and train the student to become a vital member in the allied health field. Upon completion of the program, the student is throughly prepared for an entry level position as a Medical Assistant.
Philosophy:
The philosophy of the Medical Assistant program is to provide education and training to those who are interested in the allied health field. Students will have a through understanding about the various job requirements of a Medical Assistant. The program is aligned to graduate students who are proficient to perform clinical and administrative tasks and become a vital member of the health care system.
Expectations and Goals:
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with patients/personnel
Perform & understand role of a Medical Assistant within a medical facility
Execute tasks/skills using appropriate procedures
Course Description:
The Medical Assistant program is approximately a fifteen-week (15) course that prepares students for an entry level position in the allied health field. This class will review the following: Medical terminology, basic EKG, vital signs, computer skills, business communication, Intro to Medical Billing & Coding, body systems, reception techniques, EKG Placement, and laboratory procedures such as sterile techniques and CLIA procedures.
Class Requirements:
Class attendance and participation is mandatory
Completion of chapters & skill's review
Obtain satisfactory ratings on exams
Dress-Scrubs are required before the third class
Class Schedule:
Evenings: Monday & Wednesday, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Next evening class for Tuesday & Thursday enrolling now with class starting soon! (Depending on enrollment, date could change)
Fees:
Tuition and Books $1,550.00. $500 towards tuition is due upon registration. Tuition must be paid in full by midterm from the first class or student will be terminated. Money orders or cash are accepted. Personal checks and or credit cards are not accepted.
