Medical Assistant (MA)
The purpose of this Medical Assistant program is to educate and train the student to become a vital member in the allied health field. Upon completion of the program, the student is throughly prepared for an entry level position as a Medical Assistant.
The philosophy of the Medical Assistant program is to provide education and training to those who are interested in the allied health field. Students will have a through understanding about the various job requirements of a Medical Assistant. The program is aligned to graduate students who are proficient to perform clinical and administrative tasks and become a vital member of the health care system.
Expectations and Goals:
Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with patients/personnel
Perform & understand role of a Medical Assitant within a medical facility
Execute tasks/skills using appropriate procedures
The Medical Assistant course is a fifteen-week (15) introductory course that prepares students for an entry level position as a medical assistant in the allied health field. This class will review the following: Medical terminology, basic EKG, vital signs, computer skills, business communication, body systems, reception techniques, and laboratory procedures such as sterile techniques and CLIA procedures.
Class attendance and participation is mandatory. Three (3) absences require a meeting with the director
Completion of chapters & skill's review
Obtain satisfactory ratings on exams
Dress-Scrubs are required before the third class
Evenings: Monday & Wednesday, 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM.
Next class starts Fall 2018 (Depending on enrollment, start date may change)
Tuition and Books $1,200.00. One third (1/3) of tuition is due upon registration. Tuition must be paid in full by mid-term. Money orders or cash are accepted. Personal checks and or credit cards are not accepted.
